United Democratic Alliance phase one grassroots Elections are set to kick off in five counties this morning.

Speaking at the ruling party’s headquarters National Elections Board (NEB) Chairperson Antony Mwaura underscored that the elections will be conducted electronically to ensure transparency.

He also dismissed any fear of election malpractice promising to oversee a free and fair election warning that any party official caught bribing the voters and party members will be ejected and face the full force of the law.

Mwaura also asserted the candidates that good follow up measures have been implemented to make sure any election disparity is well accounted for.

“Our election is going to be electronic. The first in the country, the first in Africa. There is no party in Africa which has done electronic voting. It is going to be seamless, free and fair,” Mwaura reiterated.

He further urged the voters to desist violence and remain peaceful in the entire voting period.

Elections will be held in Nairobi, Homabay, Busia, West Pokot and Narok.

In Nairobi County, Governor Johnson Sakaja will battle with Embakasi North MP James Gakuya.

Elections will kick off at 9:00 am and the polling stations closed at 3pm.

Orange Democratic Party ODM elections will take place tomorrow.
